CULTURAL SPECIFICATIONS IN LATVIA

  • No standard exist for describing things in details.

  • The craftsmen are used to much more details on drawings and specification to be able to make the work correct.

  • In addition the Latvians are going much deeper into all details for calculation of consumptions and make the correct dimensions for all utilities etc. This can make some disturbance in the first contact phase were the Norwegian client comes with a incomplete drawing and specification and ask for price, while the Latvian side is confused about what to give a price on because the request is with too many loopholes.

  • Same confusion can be repeated in performing the work; the Latvian side does it as in their drawing and specification, while the Norwegian customer had a total different picture in his mind.
